s'plorin (matthews edition)

My daughter recently started at an amazing new school located just outside of downtown Matthews. On my drive to and from her school I noticed a new greenway path I hadn’t explored before! I’ve walked it a few times now and have to say every time has been LOVELY! Starting at the entrance on John Street the path connects all the way to squirrel park. My friend called me at the crack of 8:45am this morning and asked if I’d like to walking the greenway with her (she hadn’t been yet) After a 15 minute phone chat, I agreed to meet her, afterall it was a crisp 55º morning. She met me with her coffee in hand from the local Brakeman’s coffee shop, I decided then I was going to treat myself afterwards. I had been here once before but had almost forgotten how delicious their brew is! 45 minutes later, I drove myself to the quaint little coffee house. There’s a small gravel parking lot in the back giving you the option to enter through the “secret garden” style patio or stroll around front to the white picket fenced front of the house. Inside you feel right at home, since this house-turned-coffee-shop is still very much set up like the original home’s layout! Lots of folks cozied up on leather sofas, or at the built in window desk, either chatting with an old friend, or taking advantage of the free wifi (with the aptly named password “slow down”) It’s the perfect hub for this charming downtown district. Coffee in hand, I took a little stroll down main street to window shop these one of a kind stores and buildings that I drive by almost every day! I can’t wait to come back and spend more time on the other side of the windows! Stay tuned!
